Exemplary Sucky Website

I love this site. Why am I posting it as a sucky website if I love it, you ask? Because it is the perfect example of what NOT to do. In fact, it’s designed specifically to include (almost) every aspect of suck imaginable. It uses annoying music, sickening backgrounds, motion graphics and text, bad color, bad layout and (ewww) frames. About the only thing on which it misses the boat is the dreaded side to side scrolling (but that’s probably only because my display is 3360 px wide).

The obligatory screenshot of the suck.

The obligatory screenshot of the suck.

Great tutorial, all things considered. What’s horrible is that this designer had to compromise all of her principles to make this thing. As near as I can tell, the designer is Michelle at Gold Nugget Webs. I intend to contact her and thank her for the tutorial. Without further ado, here’s the site.

I very much appreciate the links to the left that state how sucky frames are. About the only thing good to come out of frames is the target="_blank" attribute. She even has a section on “Misspelled werds and impropr punktuation” toward the bottom of the page.

If you are thinking about trying your hand at development, start here. My grandfather used to tell me, “You can be an idiot and learn from your own mistakes, or you can be smart and learn from mine.” Chose “smart” folks. It saves time, it saves energy and most of all, it saves you from being featured here.

Cheers!
