Odd Taste In Art Translates to Odd Taste In Music
I don’t even know where to begin with this site. It reminds me of paperrad, but less inspired. The worst thing about this whole thing is the movement. There are tons of it, and it doesn’t stop on the home page. This is the kind of awful you’d expect to see in a zombie movie or some postapocalyptic thriller involving giant flesh eating maggots which found an escape route from hell and are now eating lower Manhattan (Cloverfield, anyone?). Is it weird that my brain goes there first? Take a look and then tell me.
There is a problem with musicians, and yes, this is a site presumably by a musician. That problem is that they seem to think the folks who would listen to them want to see what’s going on in their heads. Wrong… Especially when it’s this. No rhyme, no reason, just an exercise in horrible. The musician in question is M.I.A. and I assume she resides in the UK.
There should be a disclaimer on all sites like this that says something like, “Warning: Merely viewing this site could cause epileptic seizures, headaches, spontaneous peristaltic convulsions and death.” In the absence of that disclaimer, can we sue? A couple well placed, expertly argued “your site made me blind / unable to appreciate eyesight ever again” lawsuits might get people to think twice about publishing this krap.
I don’t really care if a musician is written up in the bowels of Rolling Stone, or had a snippet in a magazine about toenails. They have no right to do this to the children of the world. Some poor kid will see this and think it’s OK to be this bad. It’s like the movie “Idiocracy” where Luke Wilson is the smartest man in the world because he’s been frozen for 500 years. This is the future folks, and what a bleak outlook it is.
Allowing this kind of stuff to continue is not OK…
What about the music? Well, I’m glad you asked. It sucks too, but hey, art is subjective, right?
