Yes, They Suck, So do You

I like a good site that makes fun of other sites. I’m waiting for someone to come along and make fun of this site (meaning the one you’re reading). I can’t wait to read what humorous, spiteful or vindictive things will be said. This next site is one that makes fun of anything right wing. While I’m not necessarily in disagreement with him on the fact that a lot of the content on those sites is bad, most of them look so much better than his, he should shut the hell up.

Sucking while talking about suck. Good idea.

Sucking while talking about suck. Good idea.

The site is called “WEB SITES THAT REALLY SUCK!”, and the all caps thing is totally his idea. I suppose he wants to tell us that the whole title should be screamed. That’s minus 1 for screaming Jimmy (or is it night owl3). This guy basically finds and bashes what he considers right wing ideology (though, I doubt this guy could spell ideology). He has Christian sites, scientific sites, political sites, etc., all with a common thread. They lean “right wing”. Problem, idiot. National Socialism is as left wing as an ethos can get (see, the guy makes fun of Nazi’s, too).

So, I have an idea. Let’s find a bunch of sites that we don’t like based on their content, and make fun of them on a site that sucks based on layout and design. Brilliant. Let’s use all the best tools to make this happen, like cheesy motion graphics, rainbow colored horizontal rules, red on black fonts, no rhyme or reason to the layout to speak of, a page that’s four miles long and an overall sense that the writer of the copy has a fourth grade education and an accompanying 2,000 word vocabulary (I’m feeling generous).

Some of the sites he talks about genuinely do suck (and you may see them here at some point in the future), but not once does this guy ever give us his personal philosophy or any valid logic behind his “suck” pronouncement. He does a good job of quoting poorly planned syllogisms and parroted cliches, but outside that, nothing.

OMFG is far from perfect, but at least there was an effort made not to burn out the eyes of the viewer, unlike this guy. I suppose “suck” is in the eye of the beholder. I believe I behold suck. Making fun of sites like this is too easy, and it makes me feel like a guy booing at the Special Olympics.

That’s my point (and yours)… this sucks! It sucks that it sucks, but the truth is it sucks. The only thing cool about this is that it sucks. Your website sucks because you have nothing but things that suck, so your website sucks and that is funny and also sucks. The irony of it just sucks. Not original at all, just plain sucks. Ha ha ha, man this sucks. This site is the best of what sucks and that just sucks. My freaking brain hurts man, YOU SUCK! :-)

What? I don’t know if I can do that… this idea actually sucks!

Aaron Reply:

Do what, exactly? I don’t think anyone disagrees that this idea sucks.
